The Inlet Rowing Club is very proud to offer adaptive possibilities in all our rowing programs
At the Inlet Rowing Club, we try as often as possible to integrate adaptive rowers into the regular practices to foster the team feeling and social aspects of rowing.
Adaptive rowing, also know as Para Rowing, allows those with physical, sensory, or intellectual impairment to be able to enjoy the water and row with other athletes in a boat suited for their needs. Boats are modified to allow those with different categories of abilities to have the best possible experience on the water. These categories are: Para Rowing 1 (PR1): Arms & Shoulders Para Rowing 2 (PR2): Trunk & Arms Para Rowing 3 (PR3): Legs, Trunk, & Arms When thinking of trying rowing for the first time, our coaches will set up a consultation meeting to introduce you to our club facilities, and discuss any equipment modifications that may needed. If time allows, they will give you your first mini-rowing lesson one-on-one at this time. If suitable, we will help to find a set of learn-to-row program dates that work for your schedule, and you will be integrated with anyone else signed up for those sessions. If more appropriate, private learn-to-row lessons will be arranged. Upon the completion of a learn-to-row program, you are welcome to join the recreational or competitive programs.
